چکیده

The interest in bacterial biocontrol agents as biosustainable alternatives to pesticides increase crop yields has grown. To date, we have a broad knowledge of antimicrobial compounds, such DAPG, produced by bacteria growing the rhizosphere surrounding plant roots.

Isolation of antibacterial material-producing bacteria from saline soil

Saline soils are widely spread in Iran. These intact soils are a great source for the isolation of new bacteria with highly functional metabolites in biotechnology. Actinomycete strains were isolated on starch casein agar and ISP2 with different concentrations of sodium chloride (0, 5 and 10%) from treated soil samples. Pure colonies were cultured on a casein glycerol medium. After complete gro...

A Whole-Cell Biosensor for the Detection of Gold

Geochemical exploration for gold (Au) is becoming increasingly important to the mining industry. Current processes for Au analyses require sampling materials to be taken from often remote localities. Samples are then transported to a laboratory equipped with suitable analytical facilities, such as Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) or Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis ...

Bioluminescent Whole-cell Biosensor for On-line Water Toxicity Detection

We present a novel microbial whole-cell sensing system for biodefense and environmental pollution monitoring. Real time water toxicity monitoring is achieved using genetically engineered E. coli bioluminescent cells which emit light when exposed to toxic materials. The illumination intensity and its time dependence are a function of the toxicants dose and type. The bacteria are immobilized in a...

Whole cell based disposable biosensor for Cadmium detection in milk

In the current work authors report the development of a biosensor for the detection of cadmium and its application in milk. Bacillus badius cells were immobilized onto the nylon membranes using sol-gel approach with alcohol and TEOS. The cells were mixed with sol-gel and poured onto nylon membrane and then dried. Hydrosol-gel immobilized cells were used as a biocomponent for the study. Ammonium...
